Austin-Furniture-StoreWhen you need to sell your furniture for whatever reason, you want to make sure you look for the best ways to sell your furniture and the best options available. A Furniture Consignment Store in Austin is a good choice. It is important that you understand all the qualifications for using an Austin Furniture Consignment Store to make sure that you are getting what you need out of the consignment furniture business. Austin consignment furniture stores offer great ideas and tips so that you are able to sell what you need and make the most money possible. Here are some great tips when using a Furniture Consignment Stores in the Austin area and getting the biggest bang for your buck.

First: Look for quality Furniture Consignment Stores

The first thing to do is find quality Furniture Consignment Stores. Look for a store that has good traffic in its area. Find a store that is larger and has more of a presence to attract buyers. A store that is tucked away and not visible from a major street will not attract customers. Check out the furniture store’s website and how it markets itself and how it would market your furniture to bring buyers. Make sure you visit the Furniture Consignment Store and check on the furniture’s progress and how the Furniture Consignment Store displays and sells your furniture. If it is lodged back in the corner of the store and not shown well, this will hurt any future prospects for purchase.

Second: Inquire about the percentage the Furniture Consignment Store requires

Each Furniture Consignment Store has their own fees for their services they provide while selling and marketing your furniture. A good Furniture Consignment Store will have a 50%-50% split with the consignor once they sell their items. There may be some additional fees for repairs, conditioning and fees for furniture pick up. Some stores will charge you rental space on the consigned furniture if it doesn’t sell within a short period of time. Others may lower the payout % the longer they have it in the store. Do some homework from other Furniture Consignment Stores and always get a contract or something in writing. Check with the local BBB and get ratings or complaints against Furniture Consignment Stores to help you make a comfortable choice where your consigned furniture is sold.

Third: Check the size of the store and how full it is

If you are checking out potential Furniture Consignment Stores to sell your furniture, see how big the store is and if it has too much inventory. If the store is so crammed full of furniture that you can’t walk around, selling your consigned furniture may become difficult and a longer wait to get your money. If the store has a garage sale look or feel, this should be a clue to use another store. An empty store has no appeal to buyers because of limited selections. Austin has a great variety of Furniture Consignment Stores to choose from. Check them to see what’s new today.

What is consignment?Consignment Seekers FAQ's

Consignment involves the selling of merchandise while ownership remains with the original owner. When we sell your furniture for you, you receive a percentage of the final sale price.

What are the consignment terms?

Consignment Seekers pays the consignor 50% of the item's sale price. Consignment Seekers Commission for handling the sale is the remaining 50%.

  • At 30 days the price of the item will drop by 10% of the original sale price.
  • At 60 days the price will drop by 20% of the original sale price.
  •  At 90 days the initial consignment period will expire.

For items to remain in the store after this point, a special agreement must be made between Consignment Seekers and the consignor.

Items without a formal extended agreement, must be picked-up or will become the property of Consignment Seekers.

Commission checks are issued for the prior month's sales on the 20th of each month. Checks that are not picked up at the store are mailed at the end of each month.

Credit card charges and moving expenses will be deducted from sales price prior to 50/50 split.
